Repair In Place (RIP) track structure, N scale

Laser cut trusses, side walls and bracing, plus 3D-printed crane, jack stands, workbench and more

Details pertinent to a RIP track, including:  crane, car jack stands, welding tanks, crates, trash cans, workbench, tool box, compressor, arc welder, cans and pails

Designed for a short spur or use on a yard track

Footprint is 2″ x 4.5″ for the main building, 1″ x 1.25″ for the work shed

KIT #5N BACKGROUND:

The yard’s RIP track was a key player in keeping merchandise moving across the railroad.  On-the-spot repairs could be done quickly on a freight car so it could be put on the next train out.  These structures were not fancy, often put together with left-over lumber and some tar paper on the roof to keep the rain off the workers.  All the equipment needed to do a repair on the fly were close at hand:  a crane to raise the car, spare wood to replace a damaged floor board, and welding equipment, to name a few.  Also, spare wheel sets were present for replacement when needed.

Kit will include everything needed to build the structure, including detail castings.  It does not include wheel sets, scenery, flooring material, figures, vehicles, freight cars, glue, paint, trackwork and benchwork.

    The details really making the scene come to life. I went with a wood plank kinda flooring vs. concrete and the main building just begged for a light inside.
